This post details the state of the game: updates, future plans, the upcoming calendar, and an update to the lore. Feel free to comment on this post with any questions.
activity check open

  • AC will be open today, May 20, through the end of the month, May 31, at 10:00 PM CST.

game updates

  • Permanent Locations Added
    • The Hot Springs are accessible. Use them for relaxing at will – the sleep/dream/drown effect has evaporated.
    • Ash’s cabin remains visible in the trees. Sources suggest using it as a landmark rather than anywhere congregational.
  • NPC Info Page
    • Revealed NPCs will be listed on this page, along with general lore uncovered about them, and links to notable past logs or interactions.
  • Library Archive
    • The library in town is odd and full of wonders. This page archives the books, papers, and notes found during the game.
    • Books with magical effects are still in the library, just tucked away on a shelf. Careful when you're shuffling through papers...

an addition to the library
In the last days of the month, any observant character might notice a new addition. This month, find a thin leather journal clutched in a hand in the garden. Like last time, a blocky hand fills the page, and thin, scrawling writings fills the margins with commentary.
𐤂
They have taken to the offerings without any of the hesitation I had expected. Whether this is naivete or pragmatism, I cannot say. The horny one is throwing a libation festival in the clearing, as people are wont to do in such circumstances. He is being less profane about it than I would have expected, considering his nature. - ⚳
Pragmatism, maybe. Thirst? Certainly.
The king and the elder thief are at each other’s throats yet again, and this time, the elder thief emerges victorious. (Pride goes before destruction—did I not say as much?) How fortunate for the king that he now has allies of his own, though what they see in him eludes me. - ⚳
The effects of sleeplessness are now visible among the less social of the group. If they have noticed this trend among themselves, they are not acknowledging it. Oblivion or stubbornness? Foolishness, either way. - ⚳
You’re getting fond of these little dichotomies. Try "sleep or sanity." Maybe they'll take a hint and try something new.
The elder thief’s flock has grown to include the small creature and the blind one, though it seems unlikely to expand further. His personality is divisive, to say the least. He has fought with the timid woman and the small creature already, and I have seen how his flock speak and act when he is not present. His control may prove less firm than he wishes to believe. - ⚳
"Flock" is uncharacteristically generous. I see a rotating cast of co-conspirators and inevitable burnt exes.
The sickly scholar has made bone servants for himself. They do not appear to be popular with the others, in particular the younger thief. If I were the thief, I would be more concerned about the scourge shadowing his steps than having assistance with his work, but he is still a child. Some irrationality is innate to his kind. - ⚳
Bone servants?
Several of them have been unwary enough to enter the pools, though they have been fortunate enough not to perish. Only one has truly surprised me: the king saw the elder thief struggling and came to his rescue. If he intended to win the thief’s favor, he did not succeed. An interesting development, all the same. - ⚳
The sickly scholar and the pink fae have begun to collaborate on the matter of the king’s dybbuk. I believe the horny one wishes to “collaborate” with the scholar’s shadow, too, but he has met with far less success. That should be a lesson to him. I doubt it will be. - ⚳
How do you call him "the horny one" and turn around to euphemize sex in the same sentence?
The scourge is trying to drive back the mist by destroying the trees. A futile effort, but it is probably best for the rest that it keeps itself busy. (Not the best for you, perhaps, if it continues.) - ⚳
I do not need to describe the party for your benefit. Nothing particularly exciting happened after you left, though the awakening of the timid woman’s other half caused a minor stir. Fewer of them were foolish enough to touch the pools than I would have guessed. I hope those few kept you well entertained. - ⚳
𐤃‎
As we expected, the efforts of the scourge and its followers have exposed your cabin to the rest. I note this out of diligence, not as an invitation for you to whine about it. (You will be fine. This too shall pass.) - ⚳
I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.
The sorceress has found an interesting use for the new harvest; she is hanging them in the trees of the glade. I doubt the others will appreciate her artistry, but I cannot deny the impulse is fitting. - ⚳
The scourge has developed a taste for kafil, it appears. After tasting yours and devouring his own, it has since done likewise to the blind one’s and the timid woman’s. Devouring the blind one’s has given it new powers, to the blind one’s obvious dismay. The crows sympathize; they have made it clear to me how little they approve of this diet. - ⚳
The sorceress has slain the furry one in dramatic fashion, but he acquitted himself well. She will carry the consequences of overconfidence with her until they heal, though I doubt the lesson will last even that long. A fool will return to her folly, as it is said. - ⚳
I had not expected the king to shy away from killing, but the timid woman is perhaps more surprising. Not only has she tried (without success) to kill her targets, she fought off the king’s kafil with minimal help from the elder thief. She has more resilience than it appears; a trait her other half shares. - ⚳
She's progressing nicely, isn't she?
Another lesson in persistent folly: the elder thief tried to murder the horny one as he slept. Needless to say, it ended poorly for the thief, which he is likely becoming accustomed to. - ⚳
Poorly planned, poorly executed, poorly timed.
The younger thief met with more success, though the small creature is a far softer target than most. Then again, so is the younger thief, which he seems to be aware of. Perhaps that is why he was so easily goaded to violence; he knows already that the wicked man hunts down the weak. - ⚳
Like a lion in cover he lies in wait to catch the helpless...
